There Goes Connie is the personal website of author Connie Pearson. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what happens to it. If anything here is unclear, email theregoesconnie@gmail.com and Connie will answer.

What this site collects

When you send a message

The contact form asks for your name, email address, and your message. That is used only to reply to you. It is not added to any mailing list.

When you subscribe to the newsletter

Subscribing stores your email address. Confirmation is double opt-in: you receive an email asking you to confirm before anything is sent to you. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes your address. Newsletters are delivered using MailPoet, which runs on this site’s own server.

When you order a signed book

Checkout collects your name, email address, billing address, shipping address, phone number if you provide one, and the details of what you ordered. This is used to take payment, ship your order, and answer questions about it.

Card details

This site never sees or stores your card number. Payments are processed by Square, and your card details go directly to Square. What comes back to this site is confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits, so an order can be identified. Square’s own privacy policy governs how they handle that data.

Cookies

Cookies are used for two things: keeping items in your shopping cart as you move between pages, and remembering that you have confirmed a newsletter subscription. There is no advertising network on this site, no tracking pixels, and no third-party analytics.

Server logs

Like any website, the hosting server records IP addresses and page requests for security and troubleshooting. These logs are not used to build a profile of you.

Who your information is shared with

Your information is never sold, rented, or traded. It is shared only where it is necessary to complete something you asked for:

• Square — to process your payment.
• The shipping carrier — your name and mailing address, so your book arrives.
• The web host — which stores the site and its database on Connie’s behalf.

Information may also be disclosed if the law requires it.

How long it is kept

Order records are kept as long as tax and business record-keeping require. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact form messages are kept as long as they are useful for correspondence, and can be deleted on request.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email. You can also ask Connie to tell you what information the site holds about you, correct it, or delete it. Email theregoesconnie@gmail.com and allow a few days for a reply. Order records that must be retained for tax purposes are the one exception to deletion.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
