Consider this statement -- Ecuador is the most biodiverse country on earth! Yes, in a country about the size of our states of Arizona or Colorado, you'll find the Pacific coastline, tropical rainforests, tropical cloud forests, tropical dry forests, the Andes Mountains, mangrove forests, and I even spotted some desert-like areas when I lived there.
Ecuador's principal exports are petroleum, bananas, cut flowers, and shrimp, but it also produces massive amounts of cacao (hello, chocolate!), fish of all kinds, and Panama hats (yes, Panama hats are made in Ecuador).
I double-dog dare you to find another place on earth with a comparable amount of natural resources. If only the "people in charge" would make better decisions and push Ecuador into First World status. But that's a blog post for another day . . . .
During our recent 10-day visit, we saw so many wonderful sights. Allow me to share some of them with you.
