The Southern Table Is Now Serving Athens

The Southern Table, brainchild and passion project of Ryan Yokley, recently closed its location in Pulaski, TN (a disappointment for those folks) but opened a new place in a familiar spot in Athens. The Southern Table is beside U.G.White Mercantile and occupies the space previously filled by Terranova and LuVici's before that. If you spot the colorful murals inside Merchant's Alley on North Jefferson Street, you'll be only a few steps from a great meal.

To call this a meat-and-three place would sell it short. The Southern Table does offer several meat options, but they are elevated, as are the sides described in the menu. In addition to lunch plates available Tuesday through Friday, you'll find appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. The dinner menu expands to include steaks, rack of lamb, and salmon.

Steve and I enjoyed lunch there recently with my uncle.

My uncle ordered a wedge salad with grilled shrimp.

Steve had grilled chicken with white bean cassoulet and charred green beans.

I had the oyster poboy.

We each were very satisfied with our choices.

The Southern Table serves lunch from 11:00 - 3:00 Tuesday through Saturday and dinner on those days beginning at 5:00. Plan your visit to include time to browse the shops around the Courthouse Square and especially U.G. White Mercantile which has been open for business since 1917.
