Eight states already knew about the deliciousness served at Stony River Steakhouse and Grill. Now Alabama can boast of its first location in our great state.
Stony River's Madison location opened less than two months ago and already has a following that is fortunate to score a reservation. The sleek, gleaming, tastefully-decorated location can be found at Clift Farm on Highway 72 at 563 John Henry Way. It is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner and for brunch on Sunday from 10:30-2:00. In order to be seated in a timely manner, go to the website and make a reservation.

The uniformed staff will greet you warmly, reflecting their precise training. All hosts/hostesses and servers wear black clothing with hair pulled back, no tattoos showing, and no piercings (other than ears for the women). Guests are requested to dress respectfully also by not showing up with tank tops or provocative clothing with profane or suggestive writing or images.
Parking is free in the lot to the side and back of the restaurant.
As the name suggests, steaks are the stars of the menu, and I can personally vouch for the quality and superb preparation in the ones we ordered.
Your meal will begin with a basket of homebaked bread fresh from the oven.

Appetizer choices lean heavily toward seafood options, but we ordered the Steak Egg Rolls which had been highly recommended. They were very tasty. The table beside us ordered the Creamy Crab Dip, and I'll definitely want to try that during my next visit.

Our son Matt lives in Franklin, TN, and even with all of the restaurant choices, his favorite is Stony River and his must-have menu item is Coffee-Cured Filet Mignon. Steve decided to see if it lived up to the hype. He enjoyed it very much. His side was the Sweet Potato Casserole, which is seasonal and not always on the menu.

I chose the Prime Rib with a loaded baked potato. It came with a serving of au jus and was so good I didn't ask for catsup. :)

For us, this is a "splurge" kind of place, considering the prices. However, it was our 54th anniversary, and we were in the mood to celebrate. We're glad we gave Stony River a try. I will be tempted to order one of their seafood dishes next time with Cream Corn Brulee as my side. Doesn't that sound decadent?
We were much too full for dessert, but our server described gigantic portions (definitely shareable). Again . . . next time.
