Lovers of "all things Auburn" will delight in the many hallowed campus and town traditions woven into the decor and amenities at the gleaming new Graduate by Hilton, now standing where Anders Bookstore used to reside at 202 W. Magnolia Avenue.

Guest rooms are packed full of touches that Auburn fans will immediately spot. Orange and blue is the primary color scheme. A tiger print pillow, an eagle wall sconce, an orange telephone, photos of Auburn notables (such as Auburn alum turned Hollywood star, Octavia Spencer), and a painting featuring Toomer's Corner's gloriously-rolled trees are just a few you'll find quickly.

The guest bathroom features bright orange, white, and blue tiles, and the custom-created wallpaper will test your knowledge of Auburn trivia.

To the left of the reception desk in the lobby is a coffee shop that features Bo Jackson, complete with a bat/glove chandelier.

Something you will find at all Graduate hotels affiliated with universities is the presence of students gathered in the lobby -- studying, drinking coffee with friends, taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi, and cramming for finals. This makes returning alums (which my Silver Fox and I are) feel a part of campus life once again.
War Eagle Supper Club is the rooftop restaurant open for dinner and weekend brunch.
Bo Jackson's Beans sells coffee and sweet treats starting at 6:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
A few things to note:
1) Valet parking ($25 per day) is the only available option. There is no self-parking.
2) If you want to go to sleep before 2:00 a.m., be sure to request a room on the opposite side of the hotel from the SkyBar Cafe located across the street on the right side of the hotel. Ask me how I know. Let's just say that the loud music is "shared" with neighbors until the wee hours every night except Sunday and Monday.
Steve and I added a performance at the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center to our short Auburn midweek getaway itinerary recently. I bet this place really hops when a big sporting event is on the calendar. The location is great for strolling to the College Street downtown area and for reminiscing around the campus.
