Domaine South, a casual fine dining restaurant located at 200 West Side Square, Suite 60 in downtown Huntsville, has been open since October 2021. Finally, during this year’s Huntsville Restaurant Week, Steve and I went there for lunch. I can now assure you that the staff at Domaine South lives up to their motto. Our meal was indeed delicious.

Charcuterie boards are one of the signature items on Domaine South’s menu. Headlined by cheeses from all over the world, the boards might also include crostini, grapes, almonds, devilled eggs, hot pepper jam or caramelized onion jam, depending on what a diner might order. Breads are sourced from local bakeries, such as Mason-Dixon Bakery & Bistro and Canadian Bakin’.
The Farmer’s Market Plate is offered for lunch or dinner and is comprised of fresh vegetables which focus on local produce. The Domaine Meat & Three appears on the menu Monday through Friday at lunch with housemade cornbread, cucumber dill salad, and North Alabama collards among the choices.

Steve chose the Friday Meat & Three with Mississippi Catfish, and I chose the Restaurant Week Special of Heirloom Tomato Grits and Grilled Gulf Shrimp. The dessert of Peach Creme Brulee was outstanding — a cobbler effect at the bottom, creamy middle, and bruleed crusty sugary top.

There is a heavy emphasis on wine at Domaine South. If that is important to you, I’m sure you will find plenty of wonderful choices. I was focused on the amazing food.
Owner Kristian Denis has created a colorful and pleasing decor with hanging plants, eclectic light fixtures, and walls filled with antique mirrors, paintings, and charcoal portraits drawn by Hazel Sikorski.

The patio opens onto Big Spring Park, and you can hear the splashing of the waterfall while you dine. This is a particularly good choice for eating before an event at Big Spring Park or Von Braun Center.

My suggestion for parking is the Clinton Avenue E Garage across the street from 106 Jefferson, a boutique hotel nearby.
I regret not finding Domaine South sooner and look forward to returning in the very near future.
