Chef James Boyce Creates Special Occasion Meals

Chef James Boyce, known to his friends as "Jimmy," understands what it takes to create a splurge-worthy, multi-course meal for a special occasion. He owns four restaurants in Huntsville/Madison -- Cotton Row and Commerce Kitchen on the courthouse square, Pane e Vino at the Huntsville Museum of Art, and Grille on Main at The Village of Providence. He also is an owner of Galley & Garden on Highland Avenue in Birmingham. Steve and I have dined at all five and have enjoyed every bite of each of those meals.

We've had birthday celebrations, anniversary dinners, casual pizza lunches overlooking Big Spring Park, and decadent weekend brunches. Our Christmas Eves are usually very quiet because all of our children and grandchildren are having their own family times. That has been a perfect excuse for us to treat ourselves to one of Chef Boyce's three-course offerings. This year we had a fabulous brunch at Grille on Main.

We chose Butternut Squash Soup and Truffle Deviled Eggs for our starters.

Steve selected Shrimp and Grits, and I ordered Steak Tips Diane for entrees.

Then for dessert, he had Granny Smith Apple Bread Pudding, and I had Flourless Chocolate Torte.

Everything was WONDERFUL!! Service was attentive, the music was at a perfect volume, and the whole restaurant was gleaming.

I'm a huge fan of Chef Boyce, his restaurants, and the dishes his staff members prepare. You won't be surprised to see his restaurants included in my book "100 Things To Do In Huntsville And North Alabama Before You Die."

Check the websites linked in the first paragraph, if you have a special occasion coming up soon. Hello, Valentine's Day! Call, ask about the menu, and make a reservation. Yes, it's a splurge, but sometimes you just feel like enjoying an elevated dining experience. Let me know what you ordered and liked best.
