Hi Everyone!
Happy October 10th! Isn't this weather glorious? The colors will reach our part of the country soon. Football season is here (and no, I don't want to talk about my beloved Auburn Tigers right now). Soups and firepits will probably begin this weekend.
I've been AWOL here on the blog for a few months, but I have NOT been lying on the couch eating bonbons. Here are a dozen highlights of the happenings in my world since I last shared.
1) During 4th of July week, Steve and I had a family from Ecuador visiting us who wanted to experience Independence Day in America. Gonzalo, his wife Giovanna (Jovy), and their two daughters came. Naturally, Big Bob's BBQ was included in our agenda.
2) Skittles Camp with 6 of our grands (all siblings) coincided with the birth of their baby brother -- John Mark Rueul Rodgers. In case you've lost count, our grandchild total is now 16.
3) We made several visits to farmers' markets for fresh delights of summer.
4) We had dinner at Blue Gill Restaurant on Mobile Bay with our longtime friends Dave and Debi Russell. If you've read my book Telling It On the Mountain: 52 Days in the Life of an Improbable Missionary, you have learned about their amazing and unselfish ministry to us while we were in Ecuador.
5) I had a speaking/book signing event at the Mobile Auburn Club's Freshman Sendoff.
6) We have continued to enjoy our church and especially our Sunday School class at First Baptist in Decatur. Consider this your cordial invitation to join us, if you don't have a church home of your own.
7) We celebrated the 1st birthday of our GREAT grandson, Teddy, who lives with his parents in Nashville.
8) We took in a Braves baseball game. They actually won that one against the Nationals.
9) We spent a few days with my cousin Ginger Murphy and her husband Reitzel and enjoyed their new home in Longs, SC, not far from Myrtle Beach.
10) While there, we ate at a wonderful restaurant in Little River, SC called The Parson's Table.
As the name suggests, it is housed in a former church building. Click the link to read all the yummy details.
11) We spent a night at a gorgeous resort in Douglasville, Georgia, outside of Atlanta called Foxhall Resort. It is a perfect place to get away and relax in luxury. Again, click the link. The website is beautiful, and so is the resort.
12) We celebrated granddaughter Megan's 16th birthday in Rome, GA with lunch, cake, laughter, and hugs.
This is just a sample. As always, my calendar is full in the months ahead, but I promise to return to more frequent posting. So many thoughts. So many blessings.
